So, funny story.

I’ve just got a nice little sinus infection this week. One of the recommendations from my doctor is to take a nice hot steamy shower/bath.

I get bored in baths and showers. I don’t relax, I just sit there and twiddle and can’t wait to get out.

So I had the bright idea of felting my little needle cases while I was in the shower. I didn’t want to machine felt them because I was worried that the tubes would felt closed or shrink too much. So sitting there fiddling with them by hand seemed like the perfect solution to two problems.

Until hubby peeked his head around the shower door and said “you’re knitting….naked…in the shower.”

To which I could only reply “It would only be crazy if I was fully clothed!”

Plus I found that rubbing them along the molded soap dish worked like a charm! Which I do believe is the first time it’s ever been used for ANYTHING.

My DPN cases

My double ended needle cases. Ready to be felted. Hubby says the more I make of them doesn’t make it any less weird.

I got my youngest daughters history and…

I got my youngest daughters history and geography curriculum last week. Omg. It’s been the best thing ever.

Previously we have between using text books and work books. This stuff is computer based. It’s already been great because it grades her tests automatically and schedules her assignments from the calendar i set up. Sooooo much less work for me. And less arguments about how many pages she has to go today and the constant negotiations. Sorry sweetie the schedule says…. ;)

Most of my other projects aren’t working…

Most of my other projects aren’t working out right now (knitting I’m looking at you) I managed to get her door painted this weekend. it worked out better than I had hoped. I used the left over floor paint from my closet, and had no idea if you could paint interior doors or how the paint would take. Just fine as it turns out.

they all have unique personalities so should their doors. Now all she needs is a sign ‘here there be dragons’

pattern 265 rows. every time I put it down I have to start over from the beginning. every time I get lost I have to start over. every time I make a mistake and have to rip out have to start over. I have started over at least 20 times.

the good part is I now know how to ssk and sk2p without having to look some up in my stitch dictionary every time.

in honor of the Olympics I am attempting to complete the whole project this weekend.

This post made possible by talk to text technology, during the purl row. I didn’t put it down, cause you know….is have to start over.

The last first day

And my unrecognized obsession with the number 3

Josh and Jessie are 3 years and 3 days apart. Gabe and Jessie are less than that, but thanks to the quirk of school enrollment dependent in their birthday, Gabe is neatly in 6th grade.

Audiobooks

Audiobooks have made me a better parent.

I’ve always hated reading out loud and I sometimes i feel like a bad parent because I don’t ever happily read out loud to my kids.

I tend to stutter and stammer as well as mild dyslexia. It really takes the joy out of reading out loud.

Finding audiobooks has been great because I buy the actual book (sometimes the ebook too)  she looks at the pages while the narrator does the reading so much better than I ever could.

We are getting the same effect of being together during the book, hearing the words and getting the word recognition she needs to help her be a better reader herself. I’ve also found that I can knit during this time (multitasking woo!)

Some companies

I was buying some school curriculum from one online company recently.

As standard they required my phone and email addresse. Not too big of a deal.

Except they have now called and emailed me a dozen times. I talked to one rep the first time and expressed that i knew the product line and got what i wanted. I didn’t and additional assistance. Yet i still get calls and emails. One even offered free shipping….but only if i called and talked to her.  Bleh. I’ll pay shipping.
